The Animal Who Symbolizes Power
and Passion
Long time ago in ancient China, when the world was
just created and
was so young, yet so perfect
there was Buddha, who was the
ruler of the whole
universe. One Chinese New Year, he decided to invite all the
animals to
his kingdom, but unfortunately only twelve showed up. Buddha
decided to
name a year after each of the animals. They were Rat, Ox, Tiger,
Rabbit,
Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and the Pig.
From this time
on, those who were born in that year got some personalities from
that
certain animal. This story shows how the Chinese Horoscopes are
made. All of
the eighth-graders are born in the year of the Ox or the Tiger,
and I,
Shiomi Komiyama, was born on the year of the Tiger in 1986. Presently,
I am
thirteen years old. The Tiger symbolizes power and passion. He
has a
powerful, assertive personality. Although he is extremely rebellious,
this character also has the daring side. He can be very generous
and
charming.
Judging from the definition of this animal, there are many points
that
I can agree on, but there are also many things I totally cannot
comply.
Chinese Horoscopes shows Chinese people's beliefs and cultures.
I would
like to know whether they are true or untrue. Explaining with
more details, the
Tiger is a liberated animal, who is awfully restless and
passionated. He is also very headstrong and
impatient by nature. He can be extremely suspicious too. This
reckless,
unpredictable creature keeps the surroundings so breathless that
sometimes they get
very annoyed. Though he can be disliked by some people, he is
also equally
generous and sincere to his friends and others.
This is the definition of the Tiger, and there are many
traits which
are true about me. First of all, I can be very generous and kind.
Constantly, I try as much as I can to stand by my friends whenever
they need help,
because I value my friends very much. We often argue about idle
topics
too, but I always forget about them the next day. I also think
that I am a
headstrong person, and this is why I mainly object my friends.
When I
start arguing I can never stop until I am satisfied, but only
with the
subject I am interested in. Usually, I do not participate or
care about the
arguments unless I have a huge concern about, because I am a
peace-seeker. Last
of all I am a very liberated girl, because I am greatly contented
with my
life here in Singapore. I guess I am doing very well at school,
and I have
reliable friends and teachers. Furthermore, I am a happy-go-lucky
person, so I seldomly feel inconvenient.
On the other hand, there are many qualities which are
not true about
me. I am not passionate, restless, or impatient. Generally I
do not feel so
much passion on something. I may say that I am capricious. This
is why I
have various hobbies. I believe I am an easy-going person. I
am not restless
either. Although I am stubborn and headstrong, usually I am placid
and
serene. As I said before, I am a carefree girl. I am not impatient,
because I do not become so furious about time. I can wait patiently
as long as
it happens. This is because I am extremely loose about time.
Oftenly, I
come about ten minutes later than the promised time when shopping
with my
friends. Knowing that this is an improper thing to do, yet I
am hardly
trying to change.
Unquestionably, there are many attributes I would like
to change. I
have few I want to get rid off, and few I want to add from the
Tiger's
personality. First, I am considerably reckless, so I want to
get rid of
that. Frequently, I forget to bring the inquired materials to
school,
and I am very disorganized. I also forget about things that I
was doing right
now when I find some more interests on something else. However,
I also want
to add one of the personalities of the Tiger, which is suspicion.
I need
to be more suspicious to avoid being taken in, because I always
take things
for granted and trust the strangers too. I am trying to change
on this
because I learned a lot when I was living in India. My parents
used to tell me
to be careful with strangers or shopkeepers, or they can cheat
money from
foreigners. I also would like to get rid of being unpredictable.
My
friends often tell me that I am very unpredictable, and I think
this is because
I am not so organized. I should be more prepared with what's
happening
around me, and should think deeply about them.
Chinese Horoscopes. Are they true or fake? Comparing
my personality
with the Tiger, I still cannot say it is right or wrong. Nevertheless,
there
are many traits which are true about me, which I suppose is the
good side
of the Tiger. I consider myself as a generous, warm person. Yet
I also
have quite a lot of traits which are not true about me at all.
Thinking
about the Chinese Horoscopes made me look at and think about
myself. As
result, I noticed numerous marks I have which I wish I would
like to change.
Chinese Horoscopes might be correct, or they might be not. It
is for you to
decide.
