For the next two weeks, we will again be using the message board for our POWs .  The questions you will be answering relate directly to the Civil War.  Remember, other people will be reading your comments.  People sometimes make opinions of who you are based on your written work, so please check your grammar and spelling.  Make sure to back your opinions with strong evidence.
 

Grading:

I. Each entry will be worth between 1-10 points
II. The assignment is out of 30 points
III. A 10 point entry will include the following:
                    1) Your opinion   2) Evidence/Reason   3) Web Page Source for information

* You may also use information from classroom notes, readings and/or videos to support your opinions.  However, to receive the full 10 points you will need to copy and paste a website which has the necessary information.  I recommend you go to www.infoseek.com and type in key words such as "Causes of the Civil War".

IV. You can also LOSE points in the following manner
                    1) Inappropriate comments
                    2) Idea Hog (Please focus on one pieceof evidence in detail
                           to allow your classmates options)

You will be able to respond to the following questions:

1. How were the North and South different?
2. What do you feel was the most important catalyst of the Civil War?
3. Which side was correct during the sectional conflicts of the early 19th century?
4. What were the advantages of the Union or the Confederacy?
5. Why are people racist?
6. What is your opinion of John Brown?
7. How/why did Southerners justify slavery?
8. What were the Northern and Southern views regarding the tariff issue?
9. If you lived in a border state, which side would you support? Why?
10. What strategies should America employ to rebuild following the Civil War?
