Poem of the Week #30
This week you will need to write one paragraph describing how
the author uses figurative language to show his love for the recipient
of the poem. Be sure to have a powerful topic sentence supported
with specific details.
Oh, My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose
By Robert Burns
Oh, my love is like a red,
red rose
That's newly sprung in June;
My love is like the melody
That's sweetly played in tune.
So fair art thou, my bonny
lass,
So deep in love am I;
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gand dry,
my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
And I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only
love!
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my love
Though it were ten thousand mile.
