Pride and Prejudice

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man inpossession of
a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." So begins the classic ofPride
and Prejudice. Set in the rolling hillsides of England, this tale offamily
faults, deception, and love. This love between the heroin of the story,
Elizabeth Bennett, and Mr. Darcy at first seems dashed, when Elizabeth
refuses Mr. Darcy's offer of marriage because of his seeming pride.However,
when Elizabeth's sister Lydia elopes with Mr. Wickham, the real villainof
the tale. Lydia's plans of marriage seem to be totally in vain when
Elizabeth's family finds out that Mr. Wickham never really intended tomarry
Lydia. The day is saved by Mr. Darcy, who organizes the wedding in
Cheapside, London. Preceding this event, Elizabeth has a surprisemeeting
with Mr. Darcy at his home, the mansion of Pemberly. Elizabeth's viewsof
Mr. Darcy change from perceiving him as a proud, mean man to seeing himas a
kindhearted and generous one.
