The Look at the Book Show

Kunal: Welcome back to The Look at the Book Show! I’m your host, Kunal
Modi!
Today we will look at the book called Saving Private Ryan. So, here’s
Aaron Yust. So, Aaron, tell us a little about the book.
Aaron: Well, Saving Private Ryan is a book written by Max Allan
Collins.
It is based on the motion picture, “Saving Private Ryan.” Private
Ryan
grew up with a family of 6, in the state of Iowa. Private Ryan’s
brothers Private Thomas Ryan, Private Peter Ryan, and Private Daniel
Ryan were all killed in action, and telegrams from each of their deaths
were going to arrive to Mrs. Ryan on the same day. President Franklin
Roosevelt sent Captain John Miller and his troops to save him, since
Mrs. Ryan had already lost three sons, they didn’t want here to loose
another son. They felt for Mrs. Ryan’s sake, they would Save Private
Ryan.
Kunal: Could you give us some more back round information on the story?
Aaron: Of course. The protagonist is Captain John Miller. He is the
captain who was ordered to lead his troop to save Private James Francis
Ryan. The antagonist is the German troops because they are the people
who started the war in the first place. Some minor characters are
Private Reiben, Private Mellish, Wade, Upham, Caparzo and Jackson. The
novel takes place in many different major war areas, during WWII. The
conflict of the story is man versus man. This is the conflict because
Captain Miller’s troops are fighting against many German troops.
Kunal: What do you think about the story?
Aaron: There was always something going on which makes a book
interesting. All of the fights in this book made me realize how bad
WWII really was. I realized that the whole war was pointless, all the
people died for nothing. After all, the enemies (ex. Germany) lost. I
think the war was pointless even if the Germans won, but since they
lost, all the American and other countries soldiers left their families
fatherless. Thinking about all of that, I think the story would be
rated an eight out of ten.
Kunal: Is their any other information about the book that you would
like
to share with us?
Aaron: Well all I can say is, I recommend this book to anyone who
enjoys
reading war stories, or just wants to pick up a book and read.
Kunal: That was Aaron Yust telling us about Saving Private Ryan. Also,
